Duncan Aviation Galleries

Lincoln NE, USA

This project is in the great midland plains of North America. The massing of the building is additive with the principal exhibition clustered around a central atrium. The unique large private collection of Robert and Karen Duncan comprising exemplary paintings and sculptures dating from the 80s onwards mingles pieces of furniture that trace history from Empire, Biedermeier and Art Deco to Lichtenstein. As a gallery this building offers refuge from an increasing techno-functional world. At the same time it claims the protective functions of a house becoming ‘natural’ to its prairie site.  Interiors by Natalia von Basel.
